A fire bowl is essentially an above-ground firepit, with a wide, shallow bowl supported on a stand. You can find fire bowls that are capable of burning propane, charcoal, or wood, depending on your preference. Gas-burning fire bowls have the advantage of cleanliness and are more suitable for places where firewood can be hard to come by. But of course, there is no substitute for the sights, sounds, and smells of a real wood fire, and wood-burning fire bowls are still much easier to wash out and keep clean than wood-burning or charcoal-burning grills. Many fire bowls come with a snap-on grate that can be attached above the fire, enabling you to cook food just like a grill does.

As useful as grills are, few of them would ever be called pleasant to look at; the best you can hope for is utilitarian. But fire bowls are designed with an eye to attractiveness as well as practicality. Whether your taste runs to gleaming stainless steel, warm copper, or sleek slate or ceramic, you will have no trouble finding a fire bowl that suits your style. They can easily serve as a centerpiece for a deck, patio, or back garden.

Imagine a cool summer night, all your guests pulling up the garden furniture around a crackling log fire in your fire bowl -- try doing that with a grill! The glow of firelight is a much more pleasant substitute for the glare of electric lights, as well.. Some larger fire bowls have a rim of ceramic tiles around the fire, so they can do double duty as a table. And even on hot days, fire bowls have their uses -- you can fill the bowl with ice and use it to keep bottles cold.

A fire bowl is much cheaper than having a firepit dug in your garden, is much more economical in terms of space, and has the further advantage of not being a permanent fixture. Fire bowls tend to be lighter and less bulky than grills, so you can easily disassemble yours and pack it up for a trip to the beach or camp -- and once you are there, you can cook without having to leave your ashes and burnt wood lying around once you're done.

There is no need to be concerned about the possibility of fire. Fire bowls are solidly built, with heavy stands to minimize the risk of tipping or spilling, and most models come with a mesh spark arrestor that fits over the top of the bowl to prevent sparks from jumping out onto a flammable surface.

We hope that, as you browse this site, you will find a fire bowl that meets your needs, and we wish you the best of luck and happiness with it!
